About The Quarryman's Bride:The latest book in the Land of Shining Waters series.

Peterson Hits the Bestseller Lists Again and Again!

Emmalyne Knox and Tavin MacLachlan were destined to be together . . . until the tragic deaths of Emmalyne's youngest sisters. Family tradition mandates that the youngest daughter should remain single to care for her parents in their old age, and now that daughter is Emmalyne. Her father unyielding, Emmalyne surrenders to her duty, heartbroken. Tavin leaves town, equally devastated.

Years later, Emmalyne's family moves, and she and Tavin meet again. Their feelings for each other are as strong as ever, but their painful past and Emmalyne's father still stand between them. Soon both families are in the midst of the growing conflict rising between the workers at the granite quarry that Tavin's father owns and operates. When a series of near-fatal accidents occur, Tavin must figure out who is behind the attacks before someone gets killed.

Bound by obligation, yet yearning for a future together, can Emmalyne and Tavin dare to dream that God could heal a decade-long wound and change the hearts of those who would stand in the way of true love?

My Review:
This was a very enjoyable book to read.  The idea that the youngest daughter stays single continued to bother me and make me want to read how the family would overcome this dilemma and crazy tradition.  The relationship between Emmalyne and Tavin was wonderful and the effect their relationship has on the families leads to great drama.  This book was one I did not want to put down.
I recommend this book to women who enjoy a great easy read.

My Review:
This was an interesting book with the combination of Amish and Mennonite families and points of view.  My first go-to books are Amish books.  I just love their way of life and (most of) their beliefs.  This book held all of those things with the romance I also love reading.  Of course, Llyod made some very memorable and entertaining characters, who did not always hold true to what we normally consider Amish behavior.
I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys Amish/Mennonite books or anyone who would like an easy and enjoyable read.

Book Review: When Mockingbirds Sing

Book Description

What marks the boundary between a miracle from God and the imagination of a child?

Leah is a child from Away, isolated from her peers because of her stutter. But then she begins painting scenes that are epic in scope, brilliant in detail, and suffused with rich, prophetic imagery. When the event foreshadowed in the first painting dramatically comes true, the town of Mattingly takes notice.

Leah attributes her ability to foretell the future to an invisible friend she calls the Rainbow Man. Some of the townsfolk are enchanted with her. Others fear her. But there is one thing they all agree on—there is no such thing as the Rainbow Man.

Her father, the town psychologist, is falling apart over his inability to heal his daughter . . . or fix his marriage. And the town minister is unraveled by the notion that a mere child with no formal training may be hearing from God more clearly than he does.

While the town bickers over what to do with this strange child, the content of Leah’s paintings grows darker. Still, Leah insists that the Rainbow Man’s heart is pure. But then a dramatic and tragic turn of events leaves the town reeling and places everyone’s lives in danger. Now the people of Mattingly face a single choice:

Will they cling to what they know . . . or embrace the things Leah believes in that cannot be seen?

My Review:
I was not quite sure how much I would enjoy this book since it is not my normal sit and read kind of book, but it was amazing.  The book itself is written so well and it is a delight to read.  The story is wonderful and enchanting.  Every character is so full and developed.  This is a book you just want to sit and read all the way through.  Then it becomes a book you want to share with others.
I definitely recommend this book to everyone- men, women, young adults.  It is a story about life, doubts, fears and differences... the things that make a great, long lasting quality book.

About Afloat:

Who will you trust when dark waters rise?

Eagle's Talon is an architectural marvel-shining residential units afloat in a protected cove of the gorgeous Rondeau River. The project is nearly complete, partially occupied, and ready to make investors rich when a sinkhole gives way. Then torrential rains and a flood leave a ragged collection of builders, investors, and residents stranded in one floating building, cut off from the rest of the world.
They're bitterly divided over what to do next.
Architect Vance Nolan insists they should sit tight and wait for rescue. Developer Tony Dean wants to strike out into the darkness. And single mom Danielle Clement, desperate to protect her young son, Simeon, struggles to hold their motley band together.
Power failure, a pall of unnatural daytime darkness, explosions in the distance, then a murder ratchet tensions to a boiling point. But Danielle's young son, Simeon, has spotted something strange underwater-beautiful, shifting lights in the dark water below.
In this watery world where everyone's secrets will eventually come to light, salvation may mean more than just getting out alive.
Another stunning exploration of the human spirit and supernatural possibilities from best-selling author Erin Healy.

My Review:
This book definitely starts out with a bang and makes you want to keep reading.  It is not my normal choice for genres, but I was not at all disappointed and will look into more of Erin Healy's books.  There is drama, action, excitement and some romance all while touching on interesting topics like angels, life and death.
I recommend this book to anyone who already likes this kind of book, but I also recommend it to people who have never read this genre before.  You will not be disappointed.  This is not an easy book to put down as there continues to be twists and turns.

About The Bare Naked Truth:The Truth About Sex and Waiting . . . Uncovered Purity.

Sex. Boys. Waiting. There's something about those words that makes everything complex in a heartbeat, and raises more questions than answers. Is there something wrong with me if I don't kiss a boy after a date? Or am I doomed if I DID? What if waiting is just a one-way trip to life as a crazy cat woman? And what if I tend to, um, think about a certain boy in a certain way? It seems that the lady at church and your friends have two very different opinions on the subject. And 'Your Budding Womanhood: Staying a Beautiful Flower for Jesus' just isn't cutting it. Bekah Hamrick Martin knows the waiting game isn't easy or straight-forward. In The Bare Naked Truth, she lays everything on the table---including some embarrassing moments---as she explores the honest, naked truth behind what God means by purity. With additional entries from popular authors, you'll see the bare naked approach to waiting isn't always easy, but it's worth the risk.

Meet Bekah:

Bekah Hamrick Martin was born in Savannah, Georgia, in an event which her brother keeps reminding her was completely unnecessary. She spent the better part of her high school years vacationing on the north end of her mattress due to an illness, where she developed a deep taste for chocolate and sarcasm. Today Bekah shares with teens about tough times, healing, and surviving their high school years---no matter where they spend them.

My Review:
This is a great book.  It is beyond easy to read and keeps you entertained throughout the book.  Bekah Martin shares her own embarrassing and hilarious stories while relating it back to her point, which is that sex is a sacred thing meant only for a husband and wife.  I agree wholeheartedly and hope that I can instill that belief in my own children.  In this book, she touches on almost every topic you can think of in this area.  Not only does she share her own stories, but she also has several others "write in" their stories.
I recommend this book tons to all moms and young women.  I think it is completely appropriate for all young women over 15 and maybe even younger if they already understand certain topics like master*ation, hom*sexuality, etc.

About Stealing the Preacher:A cowboy who wants to be a preacher. An outlaw's daughter who wants to change his mind.
On his way to interview for a position at a church in the Piney Woods of Texas, Crockett Archer can't believe it when he's forced off the train by an outlaw and presented to the man's daughter as the preacher she requested for her birthday. He's determined to escape-which would be much easier if he could stop thinking about Joanna Robbins and her unexpected request.

For months, Joanna had prayed for a minister. A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the heart of her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her dying mother. But just when it seems her prayers have been answered, it turns out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own calling him elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett he ended up right where he was supposed to be?

With her signature blend of humor, history, and lively western romance, two-time RITA Award finalist and bestselling author Karen Witemeyer delivers a Texas love story sure to steal your heart.

My Review:
The whole premise of this book is funny.  It is filled with romance, but really it is just comical.  I always enjoy a good southern book set in one of my favorite times and this one was no different.  The setting being in Texas helps, too.  If you are looking for a fun, easy-to-pick-up-where-you-left-off book this is a great one.
