My Review:  

I really have enjoyed this book so far and I know I will continue to love it,  It is set up to go over one virtue a month for the year.  There are stories from Courney DeFeo's real life.  She gives you tips and tricks on how you can incorporate and secretly teach these virtues to your family.  I love that it is broken up into months because you don't feel so overwhelmed.  You can pick up at any month or you can seek out a virtue that you think would most benefit your family first.  The virtues or values are the baseline of any well functioning family and child, who will become an adult who has to survive society.  Once those virtues are instilled, fun can be had.  Except that Courtney gives us ways to do them both at the same time!  

  I highly recommend this book to all parents who was great values instilled in their children and who at the same time also want to enjoy their child's childhood.

My Review:

I've been hearing a lot about eating a Paleo diet.  I know most of the foods you can and can't eat and I get the basics of the principle behind it.  I did not know anything more than that.  I wanted to learn more because it is an idea that intrigues me.  I was very excited to get this book.  It is not a traditional diet book.  It is a book hoping to give you knowledge about why you should or should not eat a Paleo diet.  The three parts of the book include Origins, Here and Now, and Visions.  

If you are at all intrigued by eating a Paleo diet or are just interested in some historical knowledge, I definitely recommend this book.

Book Review: Once a Day Bible (Chronological Edition)

Book Description

My Review:

I've never had a chronological Bible before so reading this one was a little bit different.  Sometimes, for me at least, the timeline of events in the Bible get confusing and overwhelming.  I'm hoping that while going through this Bible I will be able to better remember the order of more events.  I really appreciate the once a day aspect of this Bible as well.  It makes for nice, short readings that I can really delve into and I know that they divided it correctly to be finished in a year.  I think that this Bible is a great addition to any Bible collection, although I would not have it as my only Bible because of the order of books.

Maybe your kids aren't into reading, but they love math. If that's the case, have them solve Eugene's Sudoku!

The laundry needs to be done; the dishes need to be put away. But your kids are begging you to take them out to the zoo. Let them take a whack at Matthew's Decoder in the morning, then make an agreement that if they figure out how to use the decoder, you'll take them on an afternoon adventure. That'll give you the morning to finish up your to-do list!

My oldest daughter is 10.  Like many other 10 year olds she is super into Minecraft and Legos.  This activity was very much like both.  She really enjoyed putting it together.  It was challenging, fun and educational all at the same time!  She is very excited to try the other activities!

My Review:
I have a heart for adopting so I was so excited to read this book.  We are all told to care for orphans and quite frankly the modern church has failed miserably at encouraging this.  This book is a wonderful guide and support for anyone who is considering adoption, especially internationally.  It gives ideas for churches to better support what we are commanded to do.  I hope that this book and its ideas will spread like crazy.  The orphan problem is completely capable of being remedied.  The first step though has to be a change of minds.  I hope this book will help do that!

Book Review: The Perfect Score Project

My Review:

Wow.  This book really was intense and honestly it kind of made me anxious.  I went between feeling like this lady was super crazy to do everything she did and feeling like I needed to get a move on in the preparing department (my daughter is 10).  This book is filled with great ideas, tips and resources so you can also go crazy preparing for the SAT.  It is up to you how crazy you get!  I do not think I will ever be that intense on the test, but I still enjoyed the book.  There are great ideas for all kinds of teaching and learning.  It is enjoyable to read also.

My Review:

I do enjoy my Amish stories and I really enjoy reading the works of these authors.  I loved this book because it was filled with three novellas.  I love reading novellas because they are easier to get through.  As a busy mom I don't always have the time to sit and read a long book and stopping and starting can sometimes get confusing.  With the novellas, I am able to read the stories quicker and not forget what was going on in the story.  I definitely enjoyed these stories.  They were quit different from the typical Amish story because they dealt with issues usually untouched such as adoption and obesity.

My Review:

I love Christmas and I love Christmas books.  I really love when Christmas books bring you back to the real reason for the season-Christ.  This book is like none I've ever read as it talks not only about Mary, but also the major roles that Elizabeth and Anna played in the birth of Christ.  This is a great book to read to get in the true Christmas spirit and reflect on the real meaning behind the season.  We always get so busy with things and it is nice to have a book like this to help us reflect.  There was so much that I learned about these women, especially about Elizabeth and Anna.  I never, ever realized the crucial roles they played.  It is amazing how God worked everything out for the good of all.  There are so many pieces to every puzzle and He knows exactly how they need to be put together.

My Review:

Everyone needs a Bible and everyone loves a Bible.  This Bible was a joy to get and I am so excited to be able to pass it on to someone who needs it!  I really enjoyed the extras in this Bible, but they were not as awesome as I was hoping they would be.  They definitely make a great addition to an already amazing book, but I was hoping for a little bit more.  The quotes, reflections and devotions do help enforce what is written and they do help you delve deeper into your relationship with the Lord.  I highly recommend this Bible if you are looking for one with a little something special in it.

My Review:

As a family, we are extremely drawn to adoption, which means that I have often thought about how I would feel if my adopted child wanted to find their birth parents.  Because of this, I was drawn to read this book.  This book goes deep into how the main character, Laney, longs to find her birth parents.  It follows her on her journey.  I really enjoyed reading this side of that story.  This book is well written and easy to read.  It is one of those books that you can pick up and finish where you left off.
